Since 2006, Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Lucent Technologies) has powered the Movistar LaLiga LIVE STREAMTV (then called Imagenio) platform. Previously, Telefónica I+D (the R&D branch of Telefónica) developed the Imagenio platform in-house. César Alierta (CEO of Telefónica at the time) and Patricia Russo (CEO of Lucent Technologies at the time) signed an agreement in 2006 for the Imagenio base-technology transfer.

Since November 2007, Imagenio has added new features such as « Past TV, » « Shift TV, » « Rewind TV, » and « Recorder Staff, » which allow customers to have a truly « a la carte » TV experience. Similar to TiVo, these services are made possible by an HD TV (High Definition Television) decoder with a 160 GB hard drive.
« Past TV, » a Movistar LaLiga LIVE STREAM TV exclusive service that allows users to access content broadcast up to seven days ago, has been officially recorded by Imagenio without the need for the client to do anything. « Shift TV » LIVE STREAM is a feature that allows users to pause a live broadcast of any program from any channel and resume watching later. « Rewind TV » is a service that allows you to rewind your television.
